Race for the CURE

RACE FOR THE CURE
This weekend we had the honor of participating in the
Race for the Cure in Fort Worth.
We were able to walk it for so many people who have been
victorious
in their fight with breast cancer, some celebrating
on earth and some in heaven but equally victorious
in conquering their cancer. Whitt was able to walk (stroll) in his
first race and loved it the whole time,
he just loved being outside and looking at all the people.

a little piece of heaven on earth

Oh this little cup is like
Heaven on Earth.
There is nothing in life (food wise) that I crave more than this,
pregnant or not pregnant.
I want to eat them in the winter but when spring comes the
cravings really start to pick up and come summer,
I am done...
I do not hold back...
nothing can hold me back.
New Orleans is known for these little beauties in a cup.
They make them oh so good.
I put two toppings on mine, it makes the cup complete,
I do not want one without the other
but if worse came to worst I would take them apart.

Oh the Snow cone....

Wedding Cake
+
Condensed Milk
=
My heaven on Earth.

You make me HAPPY
You make me SMILE

Oh look at that little munchkin's hair....
it just makes my heart hurt thinking about it...
his cute hair not the snow cone, well kind of the snow cone too....
my mouth is not watering at all as I type this post.

Update

Update on Whitt's Appointment:
Whitt did amazing today. We woke up bright and early and made our way to Nacogdoches. Some of the time I feel great guilt for what is going on with little Whitt. It was my body that wasn't able to hold him and keep him safe for the 10 months. I was the reason he has to come early and be so sick. oh but today there was relief from that. We sang the whole way to the doctor to Robbie Seay and Aaron Ivey.
It was a great time in the car with me, whitt and our BIG God. Those songs were perfect for me this morning sharing some promises that God has given to us and just a reminder that He is not a God of Guilt or worry. Praise Jesus for His face during the storm.

So onto the little man.....

The mister did so good at the doctor today. And she was so so great with him, she was such an answer to prayer. She gave us such good insight.

She was able to show us some activities and exercises to do with the little man. He has some oral defensiveness we need to work on and some tools and activities to get him eating foods with texture. According to the doc, all of this is not a short process- we will get results over time.So the plan is to continue with the occupational and feeding therapy.
We will have a break before we head back again but
we have a list of homework to do with the Mister.

Thank you so much for your prayers. They were much appreciated. I got an encouraging email from a friend today and it came in perfect timing as did each of your comments...
....
XOXO

Easter 2010

Whitt's First Easter was so nice. We were in New Orleans
so any Cajun or Snow Cone cravings we were having were
definitely quenched
(Snow cone Post to come).
Andy flew down on Friday so we were able to all spend
the weekend together and so I would not have
to make the long trek back solo. It was a great time to
celebrate Easter and the meaning behind it.
Since Whitt is so young we did not do
any Easter egg hunts, we were able to just hang out,
eat and spend time with family that we do
not get to see often enough.
Here are a few pics of the little Mister in his
Easter Best right before drool
over took the whole outfit and we just put him in a Tee.

The Wetherell's hope that each and everyone
of your Easter's was delightful!!!

We have our Developmental Ped appointment tomorrow
(Tuesday April 6th) so say a little prayer
for us if you get a chance.
I know my little Mister has been made
perfect by our Master no matter the outcome...
and he is perfect in his mama's eyes too!

Easter Sneak Peak

4.02.2010

City of Jazz.

Whitt and I made our way to New Orleans at the beginning
of the week,it was out first long trip together (6 hours).
We had a great drive...
we sang and danced the whole way.
We have been enjoying good friday with fun in the sun.
This little stinker said "mama" this week
and it just made my heart melt.
He is such a joy -
he is filled with constant Laughter and Smiles.
This little mister has a mind of his own.
He is going through a stage where he like to be held,
but not by anybody in particular, anyone will do.
I think he just loves all the attention.
We have an appointment with our Developmental
pediatrition on Tuesday so hopefully she will give
us some good insight on this little mister.
We are looking forward to it.
But for now we are going to enjoy our time in
the city of jazz, eating crawfish,
po-boys, oysters (YUCK!) ,
and enjoying this Easter weekend.
Oh.... and Whitt's legs are getting
oh so delectable.
I know you can't
see them well but the chub on them
just melts my little heart.

Hope your Easter weekend is Wonderful!!!!

The Name

I have been asked "What's in the name?"

WHITTAKER OVERSTREET WETHERELL

So here it is......

WHITTAKER
His first name comes from a couple different places:
1. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer when I was younger, his oncologist name was Doctor Whittaker. I was only in 4th grade when my dad was diagnosed so my dads doctor really did not exactly make a huge impression on me at such a young age in which I would name my son after him but the journey of my dad's battle with cancer did. So I chose the name Whittaker to represent his Fight and how he conquered it for so long with such grace.
2. My sister's name is Whitney.... She is great. She is 3 years younger than me and I feel as if we were inseparable until I moved off to college. She has such a fire for life and I am so glad Whittaker has such a great Aunt to look up to.

OVERSTREET
My great great great grandmother on my dad's side of the family was Grandma Overstreet. She is not someone that I had ever had the pleasure of meeting. But my grandmother Jewel (my dad's mom) would always talk to me about Grandma Overstreet and how she was a fiery lady with zeal for life....That she had a spark.

So there it is.... neither of the names have great definition from Mr. Webster but they have come from stories in Life from the family line... I am sure glad my son gets to represent such great and wonderful people with his name.

{::Life of a Preemie::}

Whitt had his 9 month appointment yesterday (Tuesday) and he did great. He weighed in at 18.6 lbs. He is now in the 30th percentile. WOOT WOOT! But the doctor referred us back to ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) because she has some concern that Whitt is not crawling yet, saying mama or Dada or waving bye bye. We worked with ECI a little bit in the beginning and did not really gain a lot from them. We also have had friends that have worked with ECI and we have not received much positive feedback from them either. So next week we will be in communication with a Functional Pediatrician to see what steps she thinks we need to take.
We were definitely warned about this having
a 29 week preemie but he has been mostly
on track up to this point minus his small size.
We are ready though and we have God by our side to walk us down this path.
He has reminds us daily that he is in control and he will always prove faithful.
We know Whitt can do these things, he might just need a little extra help.....

Fellow Mom's -
When did your kids crawl?
say mama?
wave bye bye?
Have any of your blogger's worked with ECI?
In your opinion, what did you think of them?

I mean look at this progress....
Picture 1: 3 days old, 3 lbs.
Picture 2: 9 months old, 18.6 lbs.
We are on TEAM WHITT and ready to tackle this.

Please Pass the Veggies

This is what goes down in the Wetherell Household when you try to give this madman applesauce. He is a VEGGIE boy, that switch from veggies to fruit never goes over smoothly.
For now, I love this face that he does, it just cracks me up....
{Key word: FOR NOW}
Did you hear his manly grunt, He is such a BOY!

3.11.2010

He makes me speechless!

Happy Nine months to my little stinker.

Oh, you sure are a stinker.
You are becoming some kind of Ornery.
For now, it is considered cute...but only for now.
You are sleeping from 8 to 8 and
mommy loves you for that.
You are eating 4 7 oz. bottles a day but
can be really fickle about them.
You can never decide if you really want one.
If there is a room full of people you would totally
rather be the life of the party and
not eat your boring bottle.
You love the mornings...
you would lay in your bed and babble for hours if I let you,
you LOVE your morning oatmeal and
literally slurp it out of the spoon.
You still love your veggies more than your fruit
and still have a killer gag reflex to let
us know you don't like them
Your dad and I "tried" to sleep in the same room
as you not to long ago and son, you snore so loud.
I will start praying for you future wife's ears.
Your dad and I did not sleep at all.
You are not crawling yet but I think you are getting close.
You simply just move in circles with your arms,
you cannot yet put the arms and legs in motion together.
You will get it soon though....
Diaper changes are not our friend,
You like to flip onto your stomach mid diaper change every time-
Poop or no poop, it is not right.
You have 2 bottom teeth and your top right
one is pushing it's way through.
You have recently noticed if you scream,
you will get attention.
I am trying to figure out how to get this under control.
You are growing faster than
I would have ever dreamed,
the saying "it flashes before your eyes"
really does apply to your little life.
You have a smile that shoots it's way
directly to your mom and dad's heart
and a laugh that puts the biggest smile on our face.
Thank you for being the happiest baby I know....
Happy 9 months little bugger filled Bitters!
