{::Life of a Preemie::}

Whitt had his 9 month appointment yesterday (Tuesday) and he did great. He weighed in at 18.6 lbs. He is now in the 30th percentile. WOOT WOOT! But the doctor referred us back to ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) because she has some concern that Whitt is not crawling yet, saying mama or Dada or waving bye bye. We worked with ECI a little bit in the beginning and did not really gain a lot from them. We also have had friends that have worked with ECI and we have not received much positive feedback from them either. So next week we will be in communication with a Functional Pediatrician to see what steps she thinks we need to take.
We were definitely warned about this having
a 29 week preemie but he has been mostly
on track up to this point minus his small size.
We are ready though and we have God by our side to walk us down this path.
He has reminds us daily that he is in control and he will always prove faithful.
We know Whitt can do these things, he might just need a little extra help.....

Fellow Mom's -
When did your kids crawl?
say mama?
wave bye bye?
Have any of your blogger's worked with ECI?
In your opinion, what did you think of them?

I mean look at this progress....
Picture 1: 3 days old, 3 lbs.
Picture 2: 9 months old, 18.6 lbs.
We are on TEAM WHITT and ready to tackle this.

Brooks is 7.5 months and hasn't done any of those things! I think you are doing a wonderful job and he is progressing beautifully! I think all babies are on their own time schedule...
He is such a cutie :)

Corey, Cade didn't crawl until he was 10 1/2 months old. I think Whitt is doing awesome! Jon and I were just talking about what a beautiful baby he is! Love y'all! :)

All babies are so different. I can speak from experience. Nathan and Jordan were born on the same day 2 minutes apart and neither of them have made any of their milestones at the same time, usually not even within weeks of each other. And pretty much all their milestones have been after when the books say they should be! HA! Whit is just perfect! He will do everything he is suppose to on his time. Don't you worry about a thing. :)

Oh my word--as I look at current pictures of him I just forget what all the Lord had you and Andy go through with your little baby boy in the begining---what a blessing from above---and HE is just PERFECT--sooooo cute! All in God's time girl!

Corey, don't even worry about this. God is in control and little Whitt will do things in his own time! I remember freaking out because Hudson wasn't talking much and we took him to a speech therapist and literally, the next day, his vocabulary exploded!!! Don't worry Cor...he is doing just fine and is the handsomest little guy!!!!

Corey, a lot of babes don't crawl until 10 or 11 months. Each child is different. Yes, he is a Premie, but if he is progressing as he should be in other areas, then don't fret. He will in his own time. Same with talking. Love you three!

Lurker here, who thinks it is different with each child (I have three living).

First child: crawled at 10 months, walked at 15 months.

Second child: crawled at 7 month, walked at 12 months.

Third child: crawled at 5 months, walked at 10 months.

I swear the younger siblings are just doing their best to keep up. Baby #1 had my full attention to deliver to him whatever he might want - no motivation to move!

FYI - child #2 was diagnosed with failure to thrive (FTT) and remains BELOW all growth charts at four years of age. However, she is developmentally way above targets and the most aggressive of all my three.

I have not worked with state services, but have friends who have/do. It must depend on the area, because everyone here seems to sing their praises!

He does look perfect in everyway!!! Charlie did not even hit the growth chart until he was 12 months, before that he was below 0% on weight. We would give him heavy whipping cream in a sippy cup. Malachi just started saying mama and dada and just started waving goodbye, he is almost 15 months. Ellie did not crawl until 10-11 months. Love you.
